Well it all started, when Lalit Modi decided to shift the venue from India to SA. Give me a break! You have 7/11 Indian players, you call it Indian whatsoever league, your target audience is mainly Indians and you decide to change the geography. Sometimes things go wrong if unplanned, rest of the times it goes haywire.
The battle on the ground seems less interesting for the KKR, their battle off the ground is taking them places. SRK, man, well I don’t know what to say. How can one, even think of making McCullum captain of a non performing, demotivated and infamous side. I saw him, last play a decent knock a good one year before. Even if DADA cannot win a match for you, he will atleast display the need for a win on field. So SRK think again.
The top auctioned players for the season 2 are well giving their bosses a run for their money. KP, Flintoff and Smith are enjoying their holiday in SA. Rahul Dravid is a happy man, he has a kid and so there is something for him to rejoice after his team’s pathetic display of play this year too.
VM please get your calendar girls and air hostess to cheer, I bet they would encourage your team better.
Some surprises here and there seem to be the only attraction of an otherwise lacklustre IPl so far. Deccan chargers seem to have regrouped and are going great guns. The Royals however are a side you can never judge. They lost their earlier matches, but are looking to regain supremacy. Yusuf Pathan, my god his hands are made of iron for sure.
The teams, the stars or even the weather gods can ruin your spirits but the girls in the IPL never let you down. You have the cheer leaders, Preity and the latest additions Shilpa and Samira Shetty. Mandira is back, she is stylish this time, not revolutionizing saree. Probably if Anil Ambani gets a franchisee next year we might see the Bacchans.
Ok lets get back to business, Oops ! should I say sport, when it comes to IPL, they both mean the same. What a marketing strategy was the strategy break concept. Modi you will make definitely a very good CFO/CMO or may be even a CEO. I don’t know what strategy can be formulated in less than ten minutes, that cannot be done for months together. Only the great brains behind it can answer that. I am yet another lame cricket lover on the road, who cannot understand team dynamics, strategy, management, marketing, ROI and all business-related, sports-unrelated terms, that are often reported when it comes to IPL.
All said and done, there is a great match (at least on paper) today and I am going to grab a coke and Lays and enjoy watching it, not knowing who to support. I will be happy for every sixer and every wicket. One thing I like about IPL, if you are not loyal, you cant lose. Win is a win nevertheless ( Sorry for copying that famous statement)
